    • "Mary Ann O'Conor" married to "Charles Legrad" (sic) in 1850, St. Mary, Mabou, Nova Scotia ("Nova Scotia, Antigonish Catholic Diocese" database at FamilySearch). Witnesses were Angus Beaton and Angus McInnis.

      Birthdate derives from the 1901 Census of Canada.

      "Granny Schegard- she was Irish" (oral history notes in poss. of author)

      Province of Nova Scotia Marriage Slip (marriage license application) for her daughter's marriage to Joseph Boutilier provides her maiden name as Mary O'Connor. Full name was Mary Ann.

      She listed as born in Urban Nova Scotia in 1891 Census of Sydney (living with daughter's family), also, as 68 years old (suggesting a birth in 1823). Birth years for Mary O'Connor on census records vary between about 1823 to about 1831. Her civil death registration states that she was born in Port Hood. Could she be related to the family/families of O'Connors in Port Hood (S.W. Mabou) detailed in "History of Inverness County" (p. 277) The death cert states that she was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery although there is a memorial at St. Anthony Daniel. Tombstone Inscription says she died Dec 16, death certificate says December 15.
