- sometimes known as Sophia Carolina Nordström or Norström; usually called Caroline in the United States.
Baptism sponsors were day laborer Per Olsson and his wife Lisa Ersdotter of Emaus, journeyman J.E. Nordström, and Stina Hågglund of Staden. Baptized as Carolina Sofia Andersdotter; her father did not take the name Norström until later.
On 10/21/1857, Carolina Sofia Norström left Hedemora for Gävle, and arrived on 11/26/1857, went to 11th Rote, p.261. A year later she moved to 6th rote, p 109 where she stayed through late 1860, when she moved to p. 113, same Rote. She moved in late 1862 from the same location, to p. 316 11th Rote, from which location she left for Stockholm November 21, 1864 (Gävle Heliga Trefaldighet (X) BI:6 (1862-1867). Her employers as housekeeper were Freiherr Axel Christer Gregerson Leijonhufvud (b. 1819 Gavle) and Mamsell Eva Mathilda Alin (b. 1824, Orsa). Carolina Sofia and Samuel Otto Ljungqvist most likely met each other in Gävle; in November 1864, he went to Hudiksvall, she went to Stockholm, and they reunited in July 1865 in Stockholm to wed.
Carolina Sophia Nordström arrived from Gävle to Hovförsamlingen (Stockholm) Dec 28, 1864. She worked as a housekeeper for the family of dentist Lars Gustaf Collin. In January 1865, she conceived her eldest daughter, Gerda; most likely NOT with Samuel Otto Ljungqvist(!) as he was working in Hudiksvall at this time. She is noted as moving to Clara (Klara) parish, also in Stockholm, on her wedding day.

Samuel Otto Jonsson Ljungqvist, wife Carolina Sofia Nordstrom, their daughter Gerda Theresia arriving from Stockholm in 1866 p 63; leaving in August 15, 1866 p. 270 back to Stockholm.
She emigrated from Sweden (as Sophia Ljungquist) on 9 September 1870 with Gerda "3" years old and Emma "dibarn," separately from her husband, as he had left for America a year earlier in 1869.
According to www.castlegarden.org, Sophie Longuist, 34, Lette Longuist, 4, Emma Longuist, 1 arrived in the US on the Tarifa from Germany via Liverpool on 4 Oct 1870. The original manifest is NARA Microfilm M277_79, and there seems to be some confusion as to whether this ship docked in Boston or in New York: possibly it docked in both locations. The transcription also appears in the book series "Germans To America"
