      "Cecil M. Butler, age 71, of Faulkton, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2002 at his home in Faulkton. A memorial service held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 12 at the United Church of Faulkton with the Rev. Bruce Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Faulkton Cemetery with Military Honors under the direction of the Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton. Cecil Murray Butler was born Dec. 19, 1930 at Faulkton to Alban and Florence (Reed) Butler. He was raised in Faulkton and graduated from Faulkton High School in 1949. He entered the United States Navy on Dec. 13, 1949 and was honorably discharged on March 26, 1953. He served during the Korean War. After his discharge he worked for the railroad for one year. He then attended Northern College and graduated with a social science degree in 1958. After college he returned to Faulkton and ran the V.F.W. Club and did spraying. He worked seasonally on a ranch from 1960 to 1971. He then went to work for Bob Ketterling Construction until he was forced to retire on June 1, 1984 due to health reasons. He was a member of the United Church of Faulkton, V.F.W. and American Legion where he was currently chaplain of both organizations. He volunteered his time to help with the legion hall and senior center. Survivors include a sister-in-law, June Butler of Billings, Mont.; three aunts, Nina Herman of Faulkton, Lois Uphoff of Porterville, Calif., and Eileen Sesak of Salinas, Calif.; three nephews,; a niece; and numerous cousins. His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death."
