Deceased Name Elaine Hastings
BALLSTON LAKE, N. Y. -- Elaine (Tate) Hastings, 71, of Lake Road died Tuesday (3-4-03) at home after a short illness.
She was born in Detroit, Mich. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School in Plymouth. She lived in Gill, Mass., for 10 years before moving to Ballston Lake in 1965.
For years, Hastings worked at Lakeside Farm and at Halloween was the Cider Witch. She was a life member of the Ballston Lake Fire Department Auxiliary and a life member of the Clifton Park Elks Auxiliary BPOE Lodge 2466. At one time, she was named woman elk of the year. She was a member of the Dunedin-Clearwater Elks BPOE Lodge 1525 in Florida and a former member of the Burnt Hills Women's Classic Bowling League.
She was an avid golfer.
Survivors include three sons, Leo of Washington D. C., Gary and his wife Donna of Glenville and Tim of Kerhonkson; two daughters, Paula Ross and her husband Richard of Ballston Lake and Cheryl Ziegler and her husband Kurt of Sharon, Conn.; eight brothers and sisters, Joseph Tate Jr. of Wyandotte, Mich., John Robert Tate of Cherokee, Okla., Lance Tate of McLean, Va., Casey Tate of Phoenix, Ariz., Joan Busch of Ludington, Mich., Janice Sparks of South Lyons, Mich., Sally Frederickson of Front Royale, Va. and Joyce Misner of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Gary and Michael Hastings, Killeen, Caitlin and Casey Ross, Chelsea and Clara Ziegler and Preston, Chad and Wade Hastings; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Tate and many nieces and nephews.
Hastings was married to James W. Hastings for 48 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at noon at Our Lady of Grace Church, 73 Midline Road (Route 146A). Private interment will be at the convenience of the family at the Gerald B. F. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
The family will receive people Saturday from 10 to noon at the church.
Memorial donations are suggested, by the family, to the Ballston Lake Fire Dept., 1125 Ballston Lake Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12019 or to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
Daly Funeral Home Inc., 242 McClellan St. in Schenectady is handling arrangements.
