      David Boutilier's petition for 300 acres at St. Margaret's Bay was dated 13 July 1816 and received 14 July 1816; the land was granted in May 1818 (NSARM RG 20, Series A, FHL Film # 1,376,088)
      "The Petition of David Boutilier of Saint Margaret's Bay Husbandman having humbly shewith That your Petitioner was born in Lunenburg and has constantly lived in this Province, has never taken the oath of allegiance but is ready and willing to do so when required, Your petitioner is of the age of 50 years, has a wife & 8 children & has never had a grant of land, that your Petitioner lately applied for and obtained the Escheat of 100 acres of Land at said Bay formerly granted to one Alexander Stewart, that it adjoins the land your Petitioner is living on, that the same is still uncultivated and was escheated at your Petitioner's expence, and having a large family is very desirous of obtaining a grant thereof, without delay, that your Petitioner gets his living by the Cultivation of Land, and does not apply for a grant with a view of selling the same having lived at said place 40 years...."
