      "About 1909 the house across from the store had been purchased by James and Peggy who moved from the farm and spent the rest of their days there; James passing away in 1919, and Peggy in 1923. This had left only Jim back on the farm and he left there in 1936, moving to his parent's house in Erinsville, staying there until his death in 1957. At this time the family homestead was boarded up and has remained so ever since. The massive barns which had stood empty for decades was destroyed by lightning in July of 1994."
