Report of Mr. J.R. Logan, Hungerford Jan 15th 1885
The following are facts connected with the history of the small-pox outbreak in the vicinity of Marlbank....The disease originated at the house of Felix Quinn, and was caused by Ed. King (of Clare River) sending his daughter Maggie to stay there, hoping that she would thus escape the disease; she arrived about the 18th October and took sick on the 20th October, having a mild attack. On her recovery her grandmother, Mrs. Quinn, sent her to school (S.S. No. 12.) The school teacher, Miss Way, was taken ill on Nov. 5th, and simultaneously two of the scholars, Michael Dolan and Michael Flynn....Miss Way, boarding at Dan. Byrne's, communicated the small-pox to the rest of the family, 3 in number. The other families affected who got small-pox from vising at Quinn's were those of Frank Desahene [sic], Larry Donohue, John Murphy, Alex. White....Wm. Reilly's house was infected by a servant boy Joe Cassibeau who came there from the French settlement in the eruptive stage, to work for Mr. Reilly; Michael Reilly took sick on Nov. 17, 9 days after first exposure. A case of varioloid occurred at Thos. Coes' house, his son Edward Contracting the disease from sitting in church beside John Flynn, jr.-He took ill on Dec. 1st. Thomas Flynn, son of widow Flynn of Sheffield, contracted the disease from members of Thos. Dolan's family, who went there to a threshing-bee not knowing that it was small pox which they had in their house....."

Felix Quinn Napanee Beaver obituary, April 14, 1888, page 3, column 3
"On Sunday last, Mr. Felix Quinn, of Erinsville, was found lying on the floor of his barn with his neck broken. It is supposed he was in the loft and falling between the poles was killed instantly. Deceased was about fifty years of age and leaves a wife and a family of five children."

1878 Atlas of Hastings County: Felix Quinn owns Lot 35 & 36 Con 6; acc. to 1861 Agricultural census of Canada James Bowen and Mary (Byrnes) (Flynn) Bowen were living on 1/2 of Lot 35 Con 6.

For some reason, daughter Margaret Quinn, does not appear on census records with her family, perhaps she was raised by relatives
