Johanna Casey was the sponsor of Mary Jane Yorke's 1895 baptism at St. Anne's; the parents of Mary Jane Yorke the priest has recorded as James Yorke and Catherine Casey. This baptism record is extracted in Mary Jane Yorke's delayed registration of birth (Nova Scotia Civil Registration) which was filed by Mary Jane's daughter. Widower James York, a coal miner, died in 1943 in Glace Bay. His daughter Maria Yorke married John James Allison. There was a third daughter, Josephine. In the 1891 Census of Canada [Little Glace Bay, p. 9 hh 39), James's wife is a 22 year old woman named Mary and they have a daughter named Maria; in 1901, James is still living in Glace Bay, now with three daughters, Maria, Mary J., and Josephine. Now his wife named Lizzie A.
