    • John Peter & Anne Elizabeth Boutilier (aka Hannah) were first cousins once removed

      Jean Pierre or John Peter Boutilier was baptized at St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg, by Rev. Peter DeLaRoche as "Jean Pierre, son of Jaque and Susan Bouteiller," he was allegedly born on the 28th of September. Sponsors were Jean George Jeanperrin, Pierre Arenberg, and Elizabeth Bouteiller.

      "John Peter Boutilier was a seaman who was engaged in trade with Cape Breton as early as 1804. He carried supplies from Lunenburg and Halifax to Cape Breton and coal back to Halifax."

      "John Peter Boutilier moved sometime after 1808 from St. Margaret's Bay to Sydney River, and bought land at Coxheath in 1811. He lived at Coxheath for 3 years. He petitioned the Cape Breton government in 1812"

      Petition to Ainslie: Petitioner, age 49, a native of Nova Scotia, is married and has eight children. He has been eight years in Cape Breton, five on a lot he purchased on Sydney River. He asks a lot on the western side of St. Peter's Road, Huntley County, Parish of St. George. Robert Peach passed Council for this lot seven years ago, but has never cultivated it. Note: recommended.       By 1825 John Peter was farming in the Lingan area and remained there the rest of his life. John Peter was permanently disabled by a falling tree.
