      Matthew's sole heir is his brother Michael (also the administrator of the estate). Witnesses to the will (dated March 17, 1851) are Richard Laffin, John Laffin, and John Young (his mark).
      The will was proved 1 October 1851 (looks like 1857?)

      Matthew was Thomas Roach's eldest son according to Thomas Roach's will. He and his brother Michael, ages 21 and 19 respectively, petitioned together for crown land in 1824:

      Petition to Wallace: Petitioners, age 21 and 19, are single men, natives of Cape Breton. Matthew asks lot 2 down stream from the Salmon Hole at the head of Lingan Harbour, formerly occupied by Lawrence Morrisie. Michael asks a lot at Black Brook on the south side of Lingan. Note: warrant issued.
