"Successful in receiving the appointment of stewardess with the Trans-Canada Airlines, Miss Constance Haibeck, R.N., attractive 23-year-old nurse of Lethbridge, daughter of Mr. J. Haibeck of Chin, will leave the city to commence her probationary period at Winnipeg, March 3. Miss Haibeck was born in Lethbridge in 1916. She attended public school at Chin and high school at Coaldale and entered Galt hospital training school for nurses in 1935 graduating in 1938 winning the general proficiency medal. At the completion of her course she took special laboratory training at Galt hospital. Dark and attractive, Miss Haibeck is five feet four inches in height and weighs 113 pounds. She is anticipating her new venture with enthusiasm. Her first interview regarding the appointment was made with the chief airline stewardess last November in Winnipeg and she was again interviewed in Winnipeg this month by Mr. D.B. Colyer, assistant to the vice-president of the T.C.A. At present Miss Haibeck is specialing a private duty case at St. Michael's hospital. FRIENDS DELIGHTED, Chin Feb. 21-Selection of Miss Constance Haibeck, R.N., of Chin and Lethbridge, as a stewardess on Trans-Canada Airlines service brought general delight among her many friends in the Chin district. She is being showered with congratulations as scores of applications were received for these positions. Miss Haibeck was one of nine girls from western cities who recently flew from Kenyon Field to Winnipeg to take examinations for airline posts when the new passenger service is started March 1. It was Miss Haibeck's first flight but she found it delightful, the plane flying at an altitude of 10,000 feet and making the hop to Winnipeg in about five hours."
