Windsor Locks
Robert O. Schumann of Windsor Locks died Sunday at Hartford Hospital. He was 78.
He was born in West Hartford and lived in Windsor Locks more than 25 years.
He served as a radio operator in the Navy during World War II.
A professional pilot, he operated the former Simsbury Aero Spray for several years. He was a helicopter pilot and instructor and held the 13th commercial helicopter pilot license issued by the state.
He leaves his wife, Catherine Leslie Schumann; four sons, Robert, Peter, Philip and William Schumann, all of Windsor Locks; two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Michael Shaw of Enfield and Lynn and Michael Rothberg of South Windsor; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral is today at 9:15 a.m. from Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., to St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Windsor Locks, for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
