The children of Michael and Mary Flynn were born either at concession-lot 8-35 or 8-34, Hungerford Township, or 1-19, Sheffield Township. The family moved back and forth between these properties. A closer look at Tax Assessment Rolls should reveal where the family was living during any given year.

[Michael Vincent Flynn's wife Mary Teresa Craigen also bought and was gifted land independently of her husband. Most of their property was inherited by John Patrick Flynn, who died young; his widow and children moved away and the properties were sold.]
The Flynns and many of their relatives left the farm to come to Detroit in the 1920s for industrial (men)/secretarial (women) jobs. The move was usually permanent.

Michael Flynn arrived at Detroit in January [13] 1923. He was a metal finisher at the time and was going to his son John, 93 Dearborn Street, River Rouge. He was 5'10" with fair complexion, brown hair and blue eyes and arrived by the St. Clair Ferry (Port of St. Clair).
There is another form associated with the same visit, for the Port of St. Clair "List or Manifest of Alien Passengers Applying for Admission" with both Margaret Flynn and Michael Flynn on it dated January 1923, naming Dennis Flynn in Erinsville as contact. Port of St. Clair, MI. Michael Flynn, listed as a metalworker, was going to River Rouge. Margaret was going to her cousin H. Donohue of 2641 Lycaste.
