- Patrick Cregan (or Creagan) and Ellen/Helen [O'] Neil/Neal had their two children, Bridget and Denis, in Leanamore, Ballylongford R.C. parish, County Kerry. Either Patrick or Ellen had at least some roots in Glin, Limerick, however. See notes for their daughter Bridget Craigen.

The surname spelling eventually became Anglicized in the 20th Century as "Craigen"; earlier it is usually spelled in the records phonetically, as Cregan or Creegan, Creagan, or similar.
