53 | 1818 Gruntmire (Grundmire), John Christian Petition to Ainslie: Petitioner, a native of Hesse, Germany, was in H.M. Service eight years. He is married and has five children. He asks a lot which he purchased from John Rundle who held it by Licence of Occupation. He asks also an adjoining lot of six chains which was occupied by Minor Bear, who died in petitioner's house without any relatives, and whose expenses petitioner paid. Note: recommended for a grant. Cape Breton no.: 1926 NSARM microfilm: 15795 1813 Gruntmuire, Christian Petition to Nepean, 1809: Petitioner was a soldier in Gen. Lasbag's Regiment of Hessians, served during the Revolution, was disbanded in 1783, and came to Cape Breton in 1785, and has since lived upon the one lot, but has no title. Adjoining land was willed to him by Mineard Beard, and he purchased another lot from John Rundle, Sr. He asks a title to the whole, in all under 500 acres. Petition of 1813: Petitioner was born in Germany, has lived in Cape Breton 29 years. He asks a title to land located to him by Gov. DesBarres. He lodged fees which have never been accounted for.
